Description
3 bedroomed cottage sleeping 2-5 people in the village of Backbarrow in the Southern Lake District. Lovely walks from the door and more challenging mountain walks within 20 minutes drive. The Lakeland Motor Museum and Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway are just across the road. Accommodation consists of: Lounge with 2 comfortable sofas, TV with Amazon Firestick, DVD player and woodburner. Dining area has table and chairs for 5 people and a cupboard full of toys and games for all ages. There is a very well equipped kitchen with cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, microwave and toaster. Upstairs, there is a double bedroom with ensuite shower room, a twin room and a single bedroom. There is also a family bathroom with lovely deep bath and separate shower cubicle. Outside, there is an area with table and chairs and rocky steps up through the garden to another seat.There is off road parking for 2 cars.
All bed linen and towels are provided.

We are happy to take week-long bookings starting on Friday or Monday or short breaks. (3 nights - Friday to Monday or 4 nights -Monday to Friday)

By Ali on 21-Feb-2025Our family has enjoyed a really lovely week in Lynwood Cottage which has been the perfect base from which to explore the local area. The house is incredibly well equipped, very cosy and has felt like a home-from-home. Our two young sons have enjoyed playing with the farm animals whilst the adults have enjoyed puzzles by the fire. The kindling pile is very impressive and worthy of mention! Some of thr highlights of our trip have included the steam train, the Beatrix Potter museum, a lake cruise and Grizedale. We’d not hesitate to book again and explore more of this area.

Lovely bank holiday weekend
By Ginny and Darren on 01-Apr-2024A lovely bank holiday weekend spent here with friends! The cottage is beautifully appointed with everything we needed. Plus it was super cosy with the fire on when it got chilly. Fabulous trip to Bowness, Ulverston, Windermere, Kendal and Wensleydale - yes we packed it all in! Sorry to be leaving today but hope to be back again this year
Great Cottage

Nice wood stove and enough wood for your stay ( we were out all day so just had it on in evening ) Well kitted out kitchen. read the folder provided by vendor as its very informative of local walks etc. Would definitely stay again.
Cosy Cottage
By Valerie on 21-Aug-2023A lovely cosy cottage, so well equipped, its really easy to find once you get to backbarrow, there is a steam train ride up the road in hetherswaite. Its about half hour to windermere and from there the other beautiful villages around the lake. There is a really good folder at the cottage with lots of information about walks and places of interest. There is a very small shop/petrol station/Greg''s few miles away for essentials.
