We would like to say a big thank you for letting us share your French home. Lovely position. Your farmhouse has been carefully modernised plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for our two family stay. Fantastic open plan kitchen going onto large living room with open fire, we had to light it. Really well equipped throughout with a very nice six ring gas cooker. It is all very well decorated to a high standard. The children loved the outdoor space and play frames. We couldn't have asked for more or for better. Le Fournil at Azay farmhouse is to be recommended.
As described, clean and well maintained property in a lovely part of France. Good directions and readily accessible from Channel ports or Tunnel. Pleasant well kept and large garden and nice pool shared between the properties. Ideal for cycling over not too challenging terrain. Several local attractions worth a visit, in particular the Wednesday and Saturday Market at Loche, the Zoological Park and the local Chateau. Ideally suited to a peaceful break, less so for active night life. Car essential to travelling around. Have visited before and would do so again as requested by family.
We were a family of 12 adults, two babies and a toddler so we booked both La Grange and Le fournil. It worked absolutely perfectly as everyone had plenty of space. The pool is lovely and warm and perfect for little ones to splash about in the shallow end. There were plenty of deck chairs and parasols for us all too and the floats, toys and baby rubber ring were fantastic additions! The houses were both so well-equipped with baby items, we were so impressed! Everything from baby spoons to cots amd there were even baby baths. It was such a help as we flew so couldn't bring bulky/heavy stuff. There wasn't a huge amount going on in Azay-le-Ferron when we were there and it definitely lacks a little cafe/bar but the nearby little towns of Preuilly-sur-Claise and Martizay have got everything. Having said that, we did have a delicious pizza at Chez Tituan on the square in Azay-le-Ferron. In terms of things to do, the Chateau in Azay-le-Ferron is definitely worth a visit, even if you just walk around the gardens. We also went to the Réserve Zoologique which was amazing! Highly recommend. Angles-sur-l'Anglin is also beautiful and worth a stroll around. Sue was extremely helpful and quick to respond to all of my emails/questions. We would 100% go back and are already planning our next trip out!
We have a week at Le Fournil with the whole family. There were eight of us in total and we all had lovely rooms, that are very well equipped with three having en-suite bathrooms. The House has everything that you need if you want a quite relaxing break. The pool is fantastic and well looked after and an excellent temperature in July. All you require for a relaxing holiday in a lovely part of France I would recommend flying into Poitiers then hire a car. We will be back.
I can''t recommend Le Fournil enough. It''s an amazing, well thought out conversion and is easily the best gite we have ever stayed in. We were very lucky with the weather and the shared pool was fantastic for the kids and adults alike. The area itself is quite rural - Azzay-le-ferron is nearby but it''s a good 20k to the nearest decent shops, but for a relaxing stay Le Fournil is hard to beat.
We had the most relaxing holiday at La Grange. The house is stunning with huge gardens. The weather was so good that we spent most of the time in the pool. There''s plenty to do in the area; we went to a fantastic wildlife park and the chateau in Azay-le-ferron is just beautiful. Our only regret was leaving the bikes at home. We''ll certainly be going back (with bikes!).
