A Little Bit About Aveyron

From a ruin to one of France’s most beautiful villages. At the start of the 20th century the village of Belcastel could only be reached via difficult tracks. The remains of the château fort were discovered standing proudly to dominate the village’s houses.
In 1974 the château ruins were restored to its former glory. This extraordinary initiative was encouraged by the inhabitants of the village who set about restoring and breathing life back into the ensemble of the village's houses, communal buildings and restaurants.
Diversity is what awaits you all along the Aveyron: heritage, culture, outdoor activities are all there. The château at Séverac-le-château will charm you, you will be amazed by Rodez and its cathedral with its very particular bell tower. The picturesque village of Belcastel is a serene location. In Villefranche-de-Rouergue and Najac, you are in bastide country where you will witness the mediaeval past.
