Situated at the foot of a quiet village in historic Cathar country, next to a 12th century Chateau, Les Oliviers has picturesque views over the rolling hills of the Aude countryside. The villa has 3 bedrooms, 2 in the main house and 1 in an annexe built to the side of the house, thus providing extra privacy for visiting couples/families as the annexe has its own entrance plus access to the garden/pool area (annexe cannot be rented separately). There are 2 bathrooms one in the main house and one in the annexe. All bedrooms windows are fitted with mosquito nets. Les Oliviers has a large open kitchen/dining room with a large oak dining table seating 6 and a spacious separate living room with 2 leather 3 seater couches and a log burner. TV provides Neflix, Prime and Disney channels. Patio doors from both rooms lead to the extensive patio and pool area where you will find sunbeds for 6, plus parasols and a traditional BBQ. The villa is a home from home and is extensively stocked with everything you may need in the kitchen - utensils, glassware crockery etc. Free wifi is available. Linens and towels (plus sunbed towels) are included in the rental cost. A local Boulangerie van passes every morning for your baguettes & croissants.
Mirepoix with its famous ‘couverts’ dating from the 12th century is only 8 minutes away, with a beautiful medieval square bustling during the summer months and lots of quaint shops, cafes and fabulous restaurants.
La Voie Verte ! (The Green Way) is a 38km secure tarmac trail that offers an outing on foot, by cycle or on horseback and is dotted with picnic areas and tunnels that light up as you enter them.! Electric bicycles can be hired from Super U in Mirepoix. The route is dotted with small villages, the castle of Lagarde, the fortified village of Camon and the beautiful village of Chalabre to name but a few... can be accessed a 3 min walk from the villa.
Carcassonne Castle (a UNESCO world heritage site), is 40 mins away, this is a must visit ...a 12th Century, walled town, full of shops, pleasant cafes, bars and tourists but well worth the visit for some spectacular photographs! Not far from La Cite’ you will find Carcassonne beach (Lac de Cavayere), excellent for swimming and for sunbathing. There is a sandy beach and in the summer there is a total wipeout-style inflatable course which is great fun. There are pedalos and kayaks to rent and also zip wiring, great for a day out doing something different!
