Description

Hillside Croft is a delightful, luxury self-catering cottage located near Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Situated in the picturesque Derbyshire Dales between the historical Peak District National Park and the charming Staffordshire Moorlands, this Grade II listed cottage lies within six acres of secluded landscaped gardens and verdant pasture land. It is ideally placed for activities, walking and sightseeing – we welcome large parties of friends and family, as well careful hen parties.

The cottage comfortably sleeps 10 people, with four double-bedrooms with kingsize beds, and one twin bedroom giving a sleeping capacity of 10. Further, among the double bedrooms, there are two low-lying beds and two sofa beds for further options and a capacity of up to 14.

A characterful sandstone cottage, Hillside Croft features pretty stone-mullioned and leaded windows, prominent heavy oak beams, and revealed timber and stonework throughout. Handmade, antique pine furniture, and a mix of old stone, oak and tiled floors and rugs add extra atmosphere, while matching furnishings, central heating, and log stoves downstairs make for an especially comfortable and warm ambience.

Our farmhouse kitchen comprises antique, lime-washed pine kitchen units, a double French-pottery sink, stone surfaces and tiled flooring. Overlooking a pretty rear garden, with various herbs, blackberries and fruit trees planted for your culinary use.

The dining room easily seats 10 to 12 at its large farmhouse table, with additional seating for up to 14 and all the crockery you might need. With a log burner set under an impressive inglenook fireplace on one side, it offers an especially comfortable space for entertaining.

The lounge area comfortably seats 14, with a large corner sofa suite and a log burner.

This beautiful country cottage is surrounded by landscaped flower gardens – including a well-fenced nature pond – and verdant pastureland. Bustling with birds and wildlife, the wider area and its footpaths are ideal to explore or just amble around! Completing this pretty picture, Hillside Croft has a sheltered patio area with a hardwood table and chairs, an umbrella, barbeque, chimenea and hot tub.

Our family spent 12 days at Hillside Croft and had a great time, the house is perfect for a mixed age range, there was 14 of us from 6 months to 63 years. Extremely well prepared and equipped, we had all we needed to make a memorable holiday. Throughly recommended by our family group, the location provides a good base with lots to do and see within a short drive.

A fabulous stay!

We had a fabulous stay for a low key hen-do. The house and setting blew everyone away, and was topped off with a welcome hamper of local produce. The local pub the Tiger Inn had amazing views and a decent Sunday roast too.

A beautiful house - better service!

By E Berkowitz on 07-Jul-2022

A beautiful house on the edge of the Peak Distric, and a perfect location for a multi-family or large group getaway. Best equipped kitchen of any vacation rental we''ve stayed in! Despite its age, the house is equipped with numerous modern amenities, a firepit (with wood supplied) and hot tub, a gorgeous main bathroom, and excellent central heating. Beds are comfortable, and the bedrooms are comfortably furnished. Bedrooms in the eaves have many options for different bed configurations but be aware that one of the bedrooms can only be accessed through another. Also, the single floor beds provided in some of the rooms are really best for children under, say, 12 years old. The host, Lee, couldn''t be more helpful and accommodating, and responds rapidly to emails.

Gorgeous weekend, and stunning gardens!

By A Wellens on 25-May-2022

We went as a group of 4 adults and 8 children for an activity weekend. The house was beautiful; loads of room, stunning gardens and a hot tub too. Such a gorgeous weekend and we all loved it.

The most fantastic weekend for a hen do!

By A Louise on 03-Apr-2022

A group of 15 of us have just spent the most fantastic weekend here as part of a hen do. From start to finish the communication was fantastic and the hosts were so accommodating, answering any question I had got. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. I’d highly recommend this cottage to any large group and will certainly be returning should I need a group venue in future.
