This was the quickest I've ever relaxed into a summer holiday. The space and setting, the lake and wildlife, the peace and quiet were all wonderful. The local area was also wonderful to explore - mountain biking trails at nearby Coombes Wood, some great tracks and trails along the Pennine Way, and short drive to Ullswater to enjoy The Lakes. Time moved delightfully slowly, and certainly out first thought as we departed, was that we can;t wait to come back.
The house is just amazing & the furnishings and decor are fabulous. It is equipped with everything that you could possibly need and we especially loved the Aga. It’s set in a beautiful peaceful location but not too far from villages with shops and pubs. It’s not very often that you find somewhere this fabulous that is dog friendly and our whippet loved playing in the large garden. We will definitely be back.
A beautiful country house in a beautiful, extremely quiet location. The house is very tastefully decorated with all high end mod cons and a beautiful Aga in the kitchen. Having its own private lake complete with swans, geese and ducks, it is very peaceful and a perfect place to reconnect with nature. A place to unwind with lots of things to see in the local vicinity.
Abbott Moss was a lovely place to stay with our family, it felt like a home when we walked in. Lovely location, great to sit out with a drink and watch the sun go down over the lake with it''s wildlife. Well equipped kitchen with quality appliances and equipment, just read up on Aga cooking before you go as it was new to us, although there is an electric cooker and oven as well. Location is good for NW Lakes and Hadrian''s Wall without being in a busy area, good amenities nearby.
We had a gorgeous stay at Abbott Moss. The photos don''t do justice to the location and beauty of the house - both inside and out. Driving down the private lane, our first glimpse of the house at the side of the lake was magical. It is remote and peaceful and yet no distance to the Northern Lakes. We enjoyed the wood burning stove and the addition of free logs was a bonus. Julia''s lemon drizzle cake was a wonderful surprise. Everything has been thought out and we felt incredibly lucky to have stayed there. Book it - you won''t regret it.
Honestly the most comfortable rental we have ever stayed at in the most idyllic surroundings. We loved the house and the lake. Our welcome basket was an unexpected treat. We went on walks as a family and enjoyed the bird life of the lake. A memorable holiday. We hope to return.
