Description
Stag Lodge is a lovely four bedroom semi-detached cottage sleeping up to eight. The Victorian stone cottage, which is set above the road is warm and spacious, and was tastefully renovated throughout just a few years ago to create a modern home-away-from-home, which never forgets its Scottish roots.
The cottage has unspoilt view across the hills and estate, which has changed very little since Queen Victoria’s reign. It is the ideal retreat for a relaxing break in the Highlands, with walking, fishing and other outdoor pursuits widely available.
Warm and cosy in the winter, Stag Lodge is a lovely place to hunker down on even the frostiest of evenings, and during the warm summer months when the days are long and the nights short, this Scottish retreat is a wonderful place to watch the beautiful sunsets as the Highlands come alive in shades of gold and yellow.
From the outside the cottage with its colourful red wood panelling appears disarmingly simple and unembellished; however, step inside and a totally different impression emerges. Refurbished in 2013, and well maintained since the cottage offers spacious, clean and comfortable rooms all tastefully decorated and well finished.
Stag Lodge comes comfortably equipped, offering four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious lounge and kitchen/diner, fitted with everything from John Lewis white goods to champagne flutes and much more besides. It is also equipped to accommodate those planning to spend days in the mountains, walking, stalking, or wading. The handy utility/drying room will help transform wet muddy attire at the day's end to warm dry ready to wear items by the following morning.
The light and airy kitchen at Stag Lodge is modern and stylish with good quality cupboards and work tops. At the heart of the room is the large and elegant wooden dining table, which comfortably seats eight guests for family breakfasts and classic evening meals. Catering may also be arranged if you are looking to celebrate a special occasion at your Highland retreat.
The kitchen at Stag Lodge is equipped to a very high standard with everything you will need for rustling up breakfast, lunch or dinner, including a large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, electric twin oven with grill, electric four-ring ceramic hob, kettle, four-slice toaster and cafetierre. With ample storage space, the kitchen can easily hold food for a week, so there is no need to visit the excellent local mini market shop in Lochcarron.
The attractive living room has classic rug covered wood flooring and gorgeous views of the garden and mountains beyond. This modern lounge is warm and cosy with the added bonus of an elegant open fireplace, making it the perfect place to warm cold feet and hands after a day in the mountains. In the summer, open the sliding French doors and let the warm fresh air with the lovely smell of Scottish Highlands fill the cottage.
There are two beautiful three-seater sofas on which to curl up and relax, and either watch the flat-screen TV, listen to music or read one of the many books provided. Two wicker armchairs are the best place to spy on the wide variety of birds, which visit the cottage's garden or just admire the breath taking views.
There are four good sized bedrooms at Stag Lodge, these include the ground floor Master Bedroom with double bed and three first floor twin bedrooms. There are also two bathrooms, the first is a downstairs shower room and the second a family bathroom with bath and hand held shower attachment.
Outside there is a nice garden and cobbled terrace which enjoy views of the Scottish Highlands.
