Description
Hafod Cottage is a short stroll from the River Ystwyth in the peaceful village of Llanfarian. The beautiful holiday home is just over 2 miles south of Aberystwyth and the Cardigan Bay coast, putting a fantastic array of shops and other amenities virtually on the doorstep, and it's possible to walk or cycle to the seaside town if you prefer not to drive. The cottage is very family-friendly, with an enclosed garden that features a 4-person hot tub, patio and artificial grass that can be used all year round. There is space for up to 5 people in 2 upstairs bedrooms and a further snug downstairs with a click clac bed, with a flexible layout suitable for families or friends. It's also has an additional downstairs toilet.
Llanfarian couldn't be a nicer spot for your next holiday. It's picturesque, with footpaths and cycling routes going through and around the village, making it easy to explore whether you feel like a day at the coast or in the mountains. Aberystwyth has beautiful Blue Flag beaches, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, and a thriving nightlife and cultural scene thanks to the university and one of the biggest art centres in Wales. Save your legs and grab a seat on the Victorian clifftop railway that takes you from the seafront to Constitution Hill, where there is a Camera Obscura as well as sensational views over Cardigan Bay. Aberystwyth has been a popular holiday destination since Victorian times and boasts an elegant pier and seafront promenade. It is home to the National Library of Wales - as much a museum as a repository of Welsh art and culture, and it's got a lively buzz thanks to the university.
Walking, cycling and mountain biking are all fantastic ways to enjoy the beautiful landscape. You're not short of options, with Ceredigion having more than 1,500 miles of footpaths, byways and bridleways. The Ystwyth Trail passes right by the cottage, going to Aberystwyth in the north and Tregaron in the south. Follow the Ceredigion Coast Path around Cardigan Bay, go inland to the dramatic scenery of the Cambrian Mountains, or follow rivers and estuaries to their source.
The cottage has bike-rack storage for cyclists who bring their bikes, with bike hire available locally for guests who don't.
Day trips can include a journey on the Vale of Rheidol Railway from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge Falls, and bird watching at the Ynys Las National Nature Reserve. Aberystwyth is a hub for water sports with lots of opportunities for SUP'ing, surfing, kayaking, windsurfing and kiteboarding. Play a round at Aberystwyth Golf Club or Penrhos Park, or go sea or river fishing. Other attractions include the Silver Mountain Experience and sightseeing boat trips to see the bottlenose dolphins and other wildlife that thrive in the waters of the Cardigan Coast.
