Description

Elgandy Cottage is a short stroll from the River Ystwyth in the peaceful village of Llanfarian. The stylish holiday home is just over 2 miles south of Aberystwyth and the Cardigan Bay coast, putting a fantastic array of shops and other amenities virtually on the doorstep, and it's possible to walk or cycle to the seaside town if you prefer not to drive. The cottage is very family-friendly, with a large garden that features a six-person hot tub, patio and artificial grass that can be used all year round. There is space for six people in three bedrooms, with a flexible layout suitable for families or friends. It's worth noting that one of the bedrooms and bathrooms are situated downstairs making it very suitable for multi-generational families, or less mobile guests.

Llanfarian couldn't be a nicer spot for your next holiday. It's picturesque, with footpaths and cycling routes going through and around the village, making it easy to explore whether you feel like a day at the coast or in the mountains. Aberystwyth has beautiful Blue Flag beaches, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, and a thriving nightlife and cultural scene thanks to the university and one of the biggest art centres in Wales. Save your legs and grab a seat on the Victorian clifftop railway that takes you from the seafront to Constitution Hill, where there is a Camera Obscura as well as sensational views over Cardigan Bay. Aberystwyth has been a popular holiday destination since Victorian times and boasts an elegant pier and seafront promenade. It is home to the National Library of Wales - as much a museum as a repository of Welsh art and culture, and it's got a lively buzz thanks to the university.

Walking, cycling and mountain biking are all fantastic ways to enjoy the beautiful landscape. You're not short of options, with Ceredigion having more than 1,500 miles of footpaths, byways and bridleways. The Ystwyth Trail passes right by the cottage, going to Aberystwyth in the north and Tregaron in the south. Follow the Ceredigion Coast Path around Cardigan Bay, go inland to the dramatic scenery of the Cambrian Mountains, or follow rivers and estuaries to their source.
The cottage has bike-rack storage for cyclists who bring their bikes, with bike hire available locally for guests who don't.

Day trips can include a journey on the Vale of Rheidol Railway from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge Falls, and bird watching at the Ynys Las National Nature Reserve. Aberystwyth is a hub for water sports with lots of opportunities for SUP'ing, surfing, kayaking, windsurfing and kiteboarding. Play a round at Aberystwyth Golf Club or Penrhos Park, or go sea or river fishing. Other attractions include the Silver Mountain Experience and sightseeing boat trips to see the bottlenose dolphins and other wildlife that thrive in the waters of the Cardigan Coast.

Elgandy Cottage welcomes visitors all year round, with short breaks possible depending on availability. The owner has two other holiday homes close to Elgandy Cottage, each finished and furnished to the same high standard. Depending on availability, they can be booked together for extended families or friends who want to holiday together without sacrificing their space or privacy. Please see the owner's website for details.

Had the best time

By Alix Z on 04-May-2024

Stayed in Elgandy over the Easter holiday with our dogs and had the best time. The facilities were fabulous and so thoughtful, especially the outdoor warm dog shower! The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and has spacious bathrooms and bedrooms. The location is more than ideal, being very close to many beautiful walks/sites. We would love to come again!

Elgandy Cottage is perfect

“It was my wife''s birthday and the cottage was perfect to celebrate with our family. We used the hot tub and log burner every day and didn''t want to leave the house as it was so gorgeous - we will definitely recommend you." - Elgandy Guest

An absolutely beautiful cottage with tremendous views across the Welsh countryside

By Ruth M on 06-Jun-2022

We have just returned from a 4 night stay in Elgandy cottage, it is an absolutely beautiful cottage with tremendous views across the Welsh countryside. The cottage is of a very high standard and well equipped with everything you need. The enclosed garden was great for our little dog and we could keep the French doors open knowing that she could enjoy outside without us having to worry and a wonderful outside dog shower for those muddy paws. A few weeks before we arrived, Lyn shared a welcome email with everything we needed to know about the area and the amenities and days out available. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Devils Bridge. If you want a luxury UK getaway these cottages are just perfect.

Immaculately clean and very well equipped

By Wendy W on 04-Jun-2022

We have recently returned from a fabulous weekend stay in both Elgandy and Corlan celebrating my daughter’s forthcoming marriage. Both properties are maintained to the highest standard, immaculately clean and very well equipped with a very thoughtful welcome pack provided. Our whole party was very impressed with the standard of accommodation and had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend in this beautiful part of Wales, only a couple of minutes drive outside Aberystwyth. Communication was first class throughout the booking process.I hope to return in the future as had a wonderful stay, many thanks.

Just perfect!

By Becky Lee on 26-Apr-2022

We stayed at Elgandy Cottage, it was just perfect! There was three adults, three older children and a dog, who definitely was living his best life! There was plenty of room, we left the lounge door open and he just loved wondering around the garden and back in again, we were so pleased as we knew he was safe and secure The whole cottage was so well equipped, the kitchen was the best I’ve even known for a holiday cottage, it was short of nothing. The whole cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed and more! About two weeks before we stayed, I received the welcome pack from Lyn, everything we needed to know and so much more, which really helped us to understand the local area and every detail needed for the stay itself. John and the housekeeping staff were so friendly and helpful at every touch point. The cottage was extremely clean and kept to a high standard. Loved all the extras such as a high speed WiFi, smart tv’s, power showers, coffee machine and not forgetting the hot tub We had an absolutely amazing time and would not hesitate to rebook again, you can certainly tell these cottages are well loved, we definitely got the family run feel, it was just perfect, thank you Lyn and team

Wow what can I say! It literally was home from home.

By Nikk B on 31-Mar-2022

Just returned from a short stay at Elgandy and wow what can I say! It literally was home from home. Everything you need was provided and we even made a roast dinner one night without worrying if we had enough pans etc! Me, my sister and mum stayed with my 18 month old nephew and 2 dogs and it was brilliant. Secure garden for the dogs and inquisitive nephew and the artificial grass was a bonus as no muddy paws! We were lucky with the weather for March and the hot tub is a fabulous addition. The rooms were spacious, the bathroom facilities were clean and shower powerful. We encountered some bedding issues on arrival (I didn’t make it clear who was attending!) and John sorted it with my mum with no issue whatsoever. He even stopped me and my sister when out walking the dogs to check if everything was ok. We felt very safe here and close by to all amenities. We went to borth beach daily as it was a short drive and dogs can go on this beach until the beginning of May. There was a park close by to the house that my nephew used and a little river that I walked the dogs to every night. The welcome pack of Prosecco and welsh cakes were welcomed and the doggy pack was appreciated! We also appreciated the documents Lyn sent over that gave us so much information and I’ve never seen anything so well put together before and I’ve stayed at a lot of holiday cottages. We will 100% be returning, every detail was given to us even down to finding the house! Thank you again Lyn, John and family for making our stay a brilliant one! We highly recommend you and your cottages!
