9 Jun 2016Fabulous accommodation in unspoilt area.MHTE 0726K10000401201, Paou, Argalasti, Magnesia, 37006, GreeceWe visited Villa Daphne as a party of 8 spanning 4 generations. There was something for everyone. The villa is extremely well appointed and even better in reality than in the photos. Views to make your heart sing and fantastic family fun in the pool. Many great tavernas nearby although not all of them were fully open when we were there. We went to" Marthas" several times for consistently good food in an excellent sea front setting. We had some great barbecues at Villa Daphne. The owner, Richard, was extremely helpful as was Karla the caretaker who pointed out the dolphins in the bay when we arrived. It is easily the best place that we have stayed at and we will certainly be returning. Date of Stay 29 May 2016 Helpful votes: 3/1
Villa Daphne is set in a beautiful situation in an olive grove five minutes walk from the sea, about one kilometre outside the village of Horto on the Pelion peninsular. The views over the Gulf of Pagasitikos towards Trikeri Island and Avia are stunning and in the evening we relaxed on the verandah with a drink and watched the spectacular sunsets. The Pelion is an undeveloped gem on the Greek mainland. It has many lovely, uncrowded beaches with safe swimming both within the Gulf of Pagasitikos and over on its Agean coast, overlooking the Sporades Islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alanissos. It's mountainous spine and rocky coast are dotted with small villages where we sampled genuine Greek food in the many tavernas, or just had a drink or a coffee under the shade of the enormous plane trees in the village squares. Villa Daphne itself is a comfortable, well equipped house with a large, airy living area incorporating kitchen, dining space and deep comfortable sofas (in front of a wood fire if the evenings are cold). This area also gives access to a shaded verandah with wonderful views over the Gulf. There are four spacious, tastefully decorated double bedrooms (two ensuite ) downstairs with access to a large patio area and a sheltered, inviting swimming pool. While there is a local bus service linking the main Pelion villages, we would strongly advise hiring a car, both to reach the Pelion and to be able to explore the area properly during your stay. This time we brought our walking boots to explore the centuries old kalderimi (donkey tracks), through olive and orange groves strewn with wild flowers. But, whatever the time of year, from the fresh green spring months of March and April to the high summer heat of July and August, the Pelion is a very special place; low key, pretty and uncrowded. Villa Daphne offers a perfect, comfortable base from which to explore this lovely part of Greece.
A beautiful villa with a fantastic surrounding. Superb restaurants in the area and good access to the beach. My family had a great week and hope to be back soon.
