For lovers of Umbria and the upper Tiber valley Casella is hard to beat. A skilfully converted old house, it feels isolated in lush countryside, but is only a mile or so from a delightful hilltop village and within easy striking distance of all the stunning places to visit in the area, from Spello, Assisi and Perugia to Monterchi, Sansepolcro and Arezzo. The house is spacious, clean and well-equipped, the swimming pool gorgeous and well-maintained, and the owners friendly and efficient. What more can anyone want?
A wonderful villa surrounded by wildlife and flowers. Perfect house and pool to relax in after returning from amazing places nearby like Perugia and Assisi. Best of all, wonderful Montone just a few minutes away with its amazing selection of restaurants. The house had everything we could possibly need.
We recently returned from 13 nights at the amazing Casella. We are regular visitors to Umbria and have stayed in a number of places over the years but this is easily the best villa we’ve stayed in, with a great mix of brilliant house, pool and gardens, perfect location for privacy and stunning views, yet easy access to a beautiful hill top town. Testament to that is we’ve already booked for next year! The house and grounds are wonderfully well kept with lovely places to dine in and out, with all the facilities you need and a really good sized and very well kept infinity pool. Our 2 young girls (6 and 10) were also delighted to find a large trampoline tucked away beyond the pool. As the house is at the end of a lane and with no other houses in sight you have peace, privacy and amazing views over the meadow, and the trees and hills beyond to enjoy from the house and gardens. But head back up the lane and in minutes you’ve soaking in more stunning vistas and views of the beautiful Montone and in a short walk have access to a few really good places to eat and drink (preferably soaking in the evening bustle in the square), and a few places to pick up fruit, veg and other essentials, including the bakery. We stocked up in Umbertide on the way to the house, and didn’t need to return. The house itself is really well kept with clean and really comfortable well proportioned spacious rooms with those beautiful floors and ceilings, and with window screens upstairs and shutters all over you can let in the light and air and keep the rooms cool when required, topped up with the fans provided. It simply had everything we were looking for. We had a great time, and Casella and Montone were a true delight. Very much looking forward to returning.
