A lovely Villa that’s very well planned and comfortable. Set in an ideal tranquil location, but not far from the beaches, tavernas and other amenities . The Villa itself is spacious, bright and airy, well equipped and with attractive views from every angle. We all really enjoyed our stay here.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left Kalamata, and more specifically, Villa Astriana was a dream! The villa itself is absolutely stunning, so clean, modern and spacious and the local area was gorgeous. We hired a car and visited some of the recommended places in the surrounding areas and every place was better than the last! The communication with Allison and the Villa Astriana team before our holiday was excellent and Nicola, the housekeeper, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect- even checking in on us where there was a localised powercut. The pool and gardens at the villa were beautiful, so well kept and the views are to die for. My only regret was only booking one week and not two! We will definitely be visiting again!
We highly recommend a holiday at Villa Astriana. We visited 1st to 13th July with our 3 sons aged 15,19,22 years. More than enough space to allow lots of chilling out time and family games. Well stocked with all the equipment needed to enhance your stay and we appreciated the mid-stay clean and re-fresh of bedding and towels. Glorious views from the pool and the outside shower and a very good sized pool. Air Con in all the rooms really helped with sleeping and mid-afternoon down time. Well placed to walk down to the sea in 10 minutes and an immediate row of tavernas. We loved the 2nd taverna (island pizza) after turning right onto the coast road, for the friendly staff and peaceful ambience. Good quality food and drinks. Few fish in the sea to watch, try a bit of bread to coax more out! The mini market local to this also well stocked, clean and friendly. We recommend if you want to explore ensure your hire car has an engine more powerful than our 1 litre which struggled up the mountainous roads. Would highly recommend visits to Ancient Messina, not so much in Sparta as advised but we went anyway as a family who love the Greek history and the fantastical version of the movie ‘300’! Mythoni castle amazing and Mythoni Harbour gorgeous and onto Pylos for a lovely, more up market lunch on the coast. A bit disappointed with Voidokilla beach and lagoon as the latter was more swamp like and no memorable wildlife seen and the clear waters and sandy beach of the cove was a bit of a trek and no better than the sea we drove past, with no shelter from the sunshine and no cafes/ tavernas. Caves of Diros very impressive but multiple mountainous, hairpin bends on the road to get there, not like the lower lying coast roads in the UK. On the way stopped at a lovely bakery and the views were amazing, although the driver doesn’t get chance to take a good look! Stopped at Stoupa on the way back, much busier but good row of beach tavernas and clear sea with some fish near the shore to spot when swimming. Less than half an hour drive from Kalamata airport but once at the villa you are away from all the hustle and bustle and really you could have a wonderful holiday without embarking on any travel! Thank you Alison and Steve
