Description

THE SUMMARY
Casa Dryllig is a beautiful 3 bedroom villa with an extra large (12m x 6m) heated and floodlit pool. It is situated in a very peaceful location and within easy walking distance of restaurants and bars. Located just 3km outside Calpe, our villa is a wonderful combination of peace and quiet, without being isolated from all the facilities you need for a successful villa holiday. Casa Dryllig is approximately 500m from the coast, and just 1km from the beach, promenade and its and many bars, restaurants and shops. We are about 3km from Calpe town centre.

The villa is very light and airy, with two double bedrooms (both 6ft super-king sized beds, 1 en-suite) and one twin room. We also provide a cot and a high chair at no extra charge for our smaller guests. Air conditioning (and heating) units are located in each bedroom and in the main living area, and this is included in the price. There is a large driveway at the front of the property, so secure parking is not a problem. The garden is completely enclosed so as long as the gate is locked, it is secure for younger children.

THE DETAIL
The modern kitchen with beautiful granite work surfaces has an induction hob, a combination oven (convection, grill and microwave), a dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. We provide a good selection of crockery, glasses, mugs and pots and pans. In addition, for larger parties, there is a second microwave/grill and a spare toaster and kettle, which can be brought out.

The dining area seats six, and there is also a high chair.

The lounge has a TV with Satellite reception which provides all main terrestrial channels, plus lots of news channels, a few movie channels, some kids channels and all radio stations. There is also a DVD player and the wi-Fi router is located here. We provide a plentiful stock of DVDs, CDs and books. We have a "flexible" library system: if you finish your book and wish to donate it, then we are grateful. If you would like to read and take one of the books already there, then you are welcome. We also provide a comprehensive information file with details of shops, restaurants, activities etc for the area.

As we regularly holiday with another couple, we have often come across the problem of finding accommodation with two decent double bedrooms, which is normally only an option in large (and generally expensive) properties. We decided to fill this gap by furnishing both the double bedrooms with 6ft super-king sized beds. We have had many comments about how comfortable these beds are. The main bedroom has an en-suite shower room, and the other two bedrooms share a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. We have very good water pressure here, so a decent shower is always available.

When we bought our villa, it was on a completely bare plot, and that enabled us to make the exterior space exactly how we wanted. The "wow" factor of Casa Dryllig is the extra large heated and floodlit pool (at 12m long, it is nearly half the length of most leisure centre pools). Pool heating is included in the price from early April to the end of October (when appropriate), and is available at an extra cost of £150 per week during March and October. It is not available as an option from December to February inclusive.

The south facing terrace features three 'palapas' (rush topped sun shades), and 6 sun-beds with mattresses. There is an outdoor dining area and a barbecue. The outside utility room houses a washing machine, fridge/freezer, as well as a toilet and sink. While we cannot guarantee what is there, as it is constantly changing, there is always a selection of pool toys for your use (eg, spaghetti floats, floating chairs etc). If you fancy something different, there are many shops on the beach that sell pool toys.

While Casa Dryllig is not adapted for disabled visitors, it is not wheelchair unfriendly, as it is all on one level, with tiled floors throughout, and has just a few steps at each entrance. We have had three wheelchair parties holiday at Casa Dryllig so far, and they all said they managed well.

Casa Dryllig is located on a quiet lane, which is a no-through road, so there is very little passing traffic and the garden is very peaceful and secluded. A very short and easy walk away (a minute or two) there are two restaurants and a fabulous bar (Bar Grizzlys), and the nearest supermarkets are about 1km away, which makes a car advisable, but not vital.

We provide all bedding, and a change of sheets can be arranged at an extra cost. We also provide tea towels in the kitchen plus a bath towels and hand towel for each guest, but not beach towels. We do not specifically provide disposables like dishwasher tablets, washing powder etc, but work on a trust basis, where we ask our guests to top up supplies when they are getting low.

We pride ourselves on the level of service we provide in terms of information and responsiveness to our guests needs, and routinely ask for feedback after every visit. Virtually all our guests say that they would wish to holiday again at Casa Dryllig, and would recommend it to others. Some of our most regular guests have been every year since 2004.

A Perfect Location

By The Edwards Family on 22-Apr-2023

We recently enjoyed 2 weeks at Casa Dryllig. The villa is in a perfect location, just a short but pleasant walk into the town and beach. Lovely and quiet during the day and evenings when you wanted to relax. We especially enjoyed the large swimming pool and BBQ. We will certainly return one day soon :-)

Beautiful Villa in Calpe, Costa Blanca, Spain

By Martin & Christine L on 25-Feb-2023

Casa Dryllig, Calpe, Spain 25 Feb 23 to 25 Mar 23 As 2 Septuagenarians, we spent 4 lovely weeks in the sunshine in Casa Dryllig. The villa was exactly as advertised, being well equipped and in excellent order after a full refurbishment of the kitchen. The weather during our first week was a little on the cold side, but the villa was well-equipped to cope. Indeed, we were very warm and comfortable whilst in the villa and it encouraged us to do some sightseeing around the local area. If you have a hire car then we do recommend visiting the mountain area just inland from Calpe. The views and scenery are stunning with many of the isolated villages worthy of a visit. We had a wonderful time and the enormous fully heated swimming pool at the villa provided an extra incentive for future visits. Our visit was enhanced by the efforts made by the owner, Heather, who was instrumental in ensuring that our holiday went off without a hitch. All in all, a great place to stay, from the magnificent locale to the extremely convenient and quality restaurants within a 4-minute walk, to the lovely villa itself. Superb! Martin & Christine L

Owner response on 18-May-2023

Hi Martin and Christine So sorry for the delay in writing a response to your feedback. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Casa Dryllig, and hope to welcome you back again at some point in the future. We do get quite a lot of longer term winter visitors, and I am sure that your lovely comments will encourage new guests. Thanks again, Heather.

Great place to stay

By Sarah Murray on 18-Jun-2022

We stayed for 2 weeks, first week with our son, daughter in law & Grand daughter. The 2nd week we had to ourselves so great for family’s and couples. Great property, well equipped with everything we needed and the pool, fantastic. We walked to the beach & back on one occasion but will admit that we then took the car (too hot). 3 restaurants a couple of mins walk from the Villa which was really handy & meant we could go out in the evening without the car. The villa is in a great area, Calpe is lovely but within easy reach of other destinations to visit. We would definitely recommend and will return.
