Sunny, 4-bedroomed house in its own garden with gated pool and lovely views situated on the edge of the lovely hill top village of Lacoste, in the Luberon national park, Vaucluse, Provence, one hour north of Marseille, 40 mins from Avignon. Comfortable, well-equipped, w/ terrace for outdoor eating, mature garden, and free wifi. Very quiet but only 5 mins walk to cafes and shop.

The house is simply but stylishly decorated with a large very well-equipped kitchen/dining room with cook books, a TV/sitting room (nb TV plays only DVDs) with excellent book, DVD library and board games, as well as a few toys and arts materials for kids. Four good-sized bedrooms (three doubles, one twin), master bedroom has en suite shower room. Two further WCs, one with a shower, and a bathroom. Good quality mattresses, duvets and fans in bedrooms. Heating for cooler nights. Though it sleeps 8, we think it's ideal for a party of 4-6. Outside, the 1.3 acre mature garden runs around the house with dining terrace and large table, shady trees, a lawn and a gated pool (4x8m), heated with a solar cover. There's a table tennis table. Upstairs two balconies. Great views across the valley to the village of Bonnieux. Protected from the Mistral. Cleaner prepares the house for your arrival and cleans when you leave. Linen and bath towels provided and changed once a week -- please bring your own pool towels. Private parking for two cars. Children welcome.

We have a friend who lives 5 minutes away, who arranges key pick-up and trouble shoots.

Lacoste is a quiet beautiful hill-top village in the Luberon national park in the Vaucluse, once the seat of the Marquis de Sade. It has a ruined castle, two cafes (one with wonderful views serves lunch and dinner in summer), a basic grocery shop which sells bread and papers, and a small market on Tuesdays. The villages of Menerbes, Bonnieux, Goult and Gordes are 10 minutes away by car, where you'll find good markets, shops and excellent restaurants. Our v good house manual lists the local shops and restaurants we like and recommendations for excursions. There is horse-riding, canoeing, walking, golf, bike hire, antique shops nearby. The coast, and towns of Aix, Orange, St Remy, Arles are approx 1 hr. A car is recommended.

Minimum 7 nights between June - September. Rentals run Saturday to Saturday, though there maybe some flexibility outside high season. No parties over eight people. Check in from 4pm, check out before 11am. We ask for a 20% booking fee on reservation, balance to be paid 4 weeks before arrival.

Home From Home In A Great Location

By John S on 12-Feb-2017

We returned again, (four adults-two teenagers) to this lovely house for the third time. It is really "home from home" everything you will need and more. Set in a delightful area with an easy drive to all the pretty villages in Provence, the owner is a delight to deal with, with lots of help and information if required. A lovely sunny garden to sit in, local wine and cheese al-fresco in the evenings, super. We have no hesitation in recommending this property, delightful.

Comfortable With Lovely Views!

By Margaret S on 15-Jun-2016

Date of Stay 4 Jun 2016
A lovely comfortable house with four good sized double bedrooms, a lovely large eat in kitchen with sofas ideal for all getting together and a comfortable sitting room. The kitchen opens up onto a paved terrace for al fresco eating. There is a lovely cottage type garden with shady areas too and of course the pool! There is an ensuite shower room and a family bathroom upstairs plus another shower room downstairs. The mattresses on the beds were really comfortable and we all slept well! The kitchen is well stocked and we cooked several times making good use of the fresh herbs in the garden. The kitchen was stocked with oils and vinegars and spices etc with a fridge in the kitchen and another fridge freezer in the storeroom where the washer and dryer were also kept. Lots of room for keeping drinks nice and cool! The house is situated on the edge of the village with lovely views to Bonnieux. You can buy basic groceries bread etc in the village which gas pretty narrow streets! Quite hilly! Negotiating the driveway to the house was a bit tricky but we soon got the knack of it and you can always park across the road if you don't fancy it! A good base for exploring the area or just relaxing. We walked through the cedars woods on the ridge just outside Bonnieux and the views from up there are amazing! A nice house for a family or group of friends!

A Magical Holiday

By Mary Anne E on 30-Oct-2015

We spent relaxing days sitting in the pretty, sun drenched garden and warm evenings on the terrace with stunning views across to Bonnieux. This thoughtfully designed family home is airy, spacious and a pleasure to stay in. The beds are comfortable and we enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. Plenty of space for our party with secluded sunny nooks to escape to with a book or a drink. Perched as the house is on the edge of Lacoste, it's easy to explore great markets and discover the many picturesque towns and village nearby. We had such a wonderful time...thank you!Response

A Lovely Village Setting With Great Valley Views

By Anonymous on 04-Oct-2015

A lovely family house conveniently situated at the edge of Lacoste within short walk to the village. Very peaceful. The house was very clean and comfortable with light airy rooms. 2 bedrooms have great views towards Bonnieux and the valley, as does the garden. There are adjacent houses but the garden is private with plenty of planting to keep it secluded and providing nice shade. We loved the terrace with its good sunny aspect. Great for outdoor meals. Lacoste is well situated for the many pretty villages in the area as well as larger places of interest further afield. Bonnieux just a few miles away has small shops and good choice of restaurants. Definitely recommend.

A House With A Lovely View And Beautiful Garden

By Anonymous on 28-Jul-2015

We had a lovely week staying in this holiday house in Lacoste. The house is spacious and well equipped but the best things were the garden and views. We ate every meal on the terrace outside. Lacoste is very well situated for walking in the Luberon and exploring the villages. The Sunday market in Coustellet was a great place to stock up at the beginning of the holiday.

A Lovely House In A Hilltop Village In The Luberon

By Douglas M on 07-Jul-2015

We stayed in Lacoste for a week at the end of June en famille (with our 2 adult children, their partners and 2 infants – the owner kindly arranged for a couple of cots and high chairs). A beautiful well appointed house, full of books and pictures, with airy bedrooms – a real family home. It was a delight to eat all meals outdoors in the attractive well planted garden, with views across the valley to the larger (and livelier) hilltop town of Bonnieux. So much to see and do in the locality. A week was not enough, but we followed some of the suggestions in the house book. When not in the pool we enjoyed visiting other hilltop villages, shopping in markets, and local wine tasting. Dinner at Le Fournil was a treat, as was the Fête de la Saint Jean held in Lacoste while we were there (originally a pagan celebration of the summer solstice). Can’t wait to get back to the Luberon.

Wonderful Location, Lovely House

By Liz on 03-Nov-2014

The location is stunning, both in the countryside, with amazing views across the valley to the pretty hilltop village of Bonneiux on the opposite side, while also on the edge of Lacoste so that you can walk and collect basics from the epicerie or just wander around the cobbled paths and streets through the village and soak up the atmosphere. It's true that Lacoste is very quiet, but we enjoyed the fact that it wasn't teeming with tourists. We spent a fair bit of time wandering up to the Chateau as we couldn't get enough of the views. As others have said, I can also recommend the café de France for a simple and very reasonably priced lunch on their terrace, with incredible views. The house itself is very different from the average holiday let as it is a family home. We loved the fact that every room had shelves of books to every taste and we all abandoned our holiday reading so that we could enjoy the books provided (kids included). Additionally there were so many things provided for us to do - lots of board games, table tennis, a garden badminton set, footballs, a boules set, nerf guns and water pistols (which my ten year old son loved) and a shelf full of DVDs. As we had dark evenings in late October we watched a DVD chosen by our children every evening. There were also lots of local guidebooks and maps provided and we used one of the walking maps to walk across the valley to Bonnieux one day. The local contact was great (and spoke English) and the owners couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely House In The Luberon

By Judith on 14-Oct-2014

The house is situated on a very quiet road just 5 minutes walk from the village of Lacoste and it is a real home from home with everything you could possible want provided. The beds are gloriously comfortable as are the sofas downstairs. There is a beautiful sunny garden which is not overlooked, a good sized pool and plenty of comfortable garden furniture for relaxing after a morning of sightseeing followed by a lovely lunch at the Cafe de France in Lacoste with it's own wonderful view from the terrace. There is only one small shop in the village for basic provisions which is a shame, but the larger villages of Goult and Bonnieux are just 10 minutes drive away. All the lovely Luberon villages are easily reached from Lacoste as it is so central. Although the house is spacious and suitable for families, it never felt 'too big' for just 2 adults and the terrace just outside was perfect for cosy evening suppers and breakfast or lunch in the shade. The owners are very helpful and welcoming and have provided everything for the perfect relaxing holiday. Idyllic Holiday Home

By Rose on 18-Sep-2014

This house on the edge of the village is perfectly located for a peaceful and idyllic getaway. Very light and spacious with beautiful gardens and pool. Not overlooked, only bird song and butterflies for company. The owner is very conscientious and organised and all the practical side went really well. The Luberon has much to offer and the house gave us a great base for exploring as well as a homely place to relax. Very comfortable and welcoming, can't be faulted.
