Thalassa House is a beautiful and striking property, situated on the harbour front. Right from booking, Bob was very helpful and prompt in answering my many queries and was very willing to help with car hire and airport transfers if we had needed them. The directions Bob gave us from the airport to the house worked fine, although we weren't warned about the goats who like to lie on the road. The house itself matched the description and we were delighted with everything. The situation is beautiful, and right on the water's edge. It was so lovely to sit on the balcony for breakfast and watch the activities on the boats that had moored overnight. If the sea hadn't been so inviting, we could have sat there all day. Assos is a beautiful and unique village. Thalassa House has the advantage of being at the bottom of the hills with flat walking to the beach and other amenities. We used all four restaurants in the village, which were all great. It was difficult to establish a favourite! The snack bar was fine for lunch. Overall, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Assos and would use Greek Island Retreats again.
We absolutely loved our stay at Thalassa House, the position could not be better, the pretty pink and blue building it is part of the picturesque little harbour scene that everyone coming to Assos takes a photograph of, and we felt so fortunate to be staying there. The villa is very well equipped, clean bright and airy with a nautical theme in the top floor bedrooms. The best thing for us was the very convenient location and wonderful views from both balconies and all the bedroom windows, peaceful and quiet at night we could only hear the sea. The owner/s have provided lots of useful information about everything you need to know in the villa information book, a slight problem we had with the bathroom was sorted out within the hour by a very pleasant man who also cleaned the property with his wife, very thoroughly, even all the rooms we didn't use ! Booking went well and our security deposit was refunded within a few days of arriving home. Wonderful holiday and just the best place to stay.
We stayed here for a week as a couple, to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The house was very lovely - beautifully decorated and furnished throughout. The location was incredible - right over the bay with the most stunning views all around. It is by far the nicest house in the area and tourists would stop to have their picture taken outside it! We loved sitting and watching the world go by over the bay. It is lovely to watch the boats coming and going while sipping a cold glass of wine in the evenings. The house is so close to all amenities and a stone's throw from the wonderful restaurants. One small niggle (and it is small to be honest as all in all it was great), is that the kitchen, although very nice, was not particulary well equipped. There was only one wine glass (the blue ones shown in the picture were locked away). There was no washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc or any tea towels. There is a washing machine but there was nothing available for drying the washing so we had to buy some washing line and improvise! However this was not really a big issue. The fridge is large and very cold. The bathrooms are all lovely (there are 3 of them) and very clean. The bed in the main bedroom is really comfortable. The windows all have mosquito blinds which is really good and means you can have them open without worrying about being bitten. There is plenty of space in the house for a couple and would be fine for a family or with friends etc as there are three bedrooms upstairs and two more downstairs. We would definately come back again and hope to do so with friends in the near future.
