Description
Situated in the heart of the ever-popular town of Windermere, this superb, traditional property in the South Lakes area is set in a row of Victorian Lakeland stone cottages, 1.5 miles from Lake Windermere. The perfect base for families or couples, guests at this cosy Windermere cottage will be delighted with the standard of accommodation provided, and its excellent location, in a quiet street very close to the centre of Windermere, with its wide variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. Queen's park, containing children's play area, is at the end of the road. Although there is plenty to do in the immediate area, it is easy to travel to other parts of the Lake District via car, bus or boat. The cottage is situated in a quiet street very near to all amenities and yet, in 20 minutes, you can walk up to Orrest Head to see a fabulous view of the lake! In the evening, the proximity to the village of Windermere and its restaurants and bars means that you can very easily walk to get a meal or a drink.
This spacious Windermere cottage offers three bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and an additional shower room. There is also a well-equipped kitchen, a comfortable sitting room with an electric fire and a large bay window, and a separate dining room. The efficient central heating system ensures that the Windermere cottage is cosy whatever the weather. Outside is a small front terrace, whilst to the rear there is a yard with a table and chairs, and your own off-road parking area - very useful in Windermere village, which has many visitors to its shops and cafes.
Located in the heart of the Lake District, with the quaint Cumbrian villages of Ambleside, Hawkshead and Grasmere, all within 15 miles of your Windermere cottage, there are lots of pretty places to explore. Pack a picnic and head up Orrest Head, highlighted by fellwalker and author, Alfred Wainwright, for breathtaking views across Lake Windermere, or meander down the Lake on the Windermere Steamer to Lakeside and enjoy the Aquarium of the Lakes, and the Haverthwaite and Lakeside Steam Railway. The Old Laundry Theatre has a variety of productions during the year and there is the Royalty cinema at Bowness for a rainy day!
This Windermere cottage is a superb Lake District base, at any time of year. Short breaks available during October to March.
