Description
Mulberry is a 3 bed Eco-style beach house sleeping 6 in 3 bedrooms. Inside is a modern and spacious home with open plan living and dining area, kitchen, landscaped gardens and decking to the front, plus an enclosed patio to the rear. The house is very well equipped including some home comforts to include books, DVDs, board games and lovely art on the walls. We want it to be your home from home.
Located a 5 minute walk away from the village of Porthtowan, with its blue flag beach and coastal walks, local amenities include beach side cafes and pubs, a convenience shop and children's playground.
Mulberry is part of the holiday community of Towan Valley with its 28 houses and there are always new people to meet here. Located at the top of the development it is next to the field where cows graze and its paved patio adds a great private area for barbecues or children's play.
Come rain or shine, warm or cold, you can spend hours on the beach surfing, rock-pooling, sand-castling, dog-walking, scrambling or generally having fun. When it's wet watch the waves from The Blue Bar! You can eat fresh fish caught locally, and enjoy trying out so many local foodie haunts all within close proximity to the house. Located equidistance from St. Ives and Newquay, Mulberry is perfectly placed to discover the best of Cornwall.
Please note:
The car park is a mere 50 yards from the house, one car parking space is allocated which accommodates two cars.
All linen and towels are provided. You will need to bring bed linen for the cot, if applicable. You will also need to bring beach towels.
An end of rental clean is included in the price.

We don’t have a reliable mobile phone reception at the property, however there is free wi-fi across the complex so you can make telephone calls using the wi-fi.
Note the road down to the beach is suitable for a buggy, but is steep in parts.
In the peak holiday months our bookings have a minimum stay of 7 nights, and run from a Saturday to Saturday. Outside of these dates there is no minimum stay and the arrival day can be any day of the week.
Check out is 10am, Check-in is 4pm

The House
Downstairs:
An open plan area with a comfortable and relaxing sitting area, with two double sofas, bean bags and two sets of double doors which open onto the private decked terrace.
There is a large dining area with a table to sit 8 people comfortably.
The kitchen is off the open plan living area and is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is plenty of cutlery, crockery and glasses for 8 people, including a variety of utensils to cook and pots and pans. There is plastic ware suitable for the beach and children.
There is also a downstairs toilet, with plenty of hooks to dry wet clothes, wetsuits, swimming costumes and beach towels.
To the rear of the property is a floor to ceiling window and door, which opens onto a private enclosed patio.
Upstairs:
The accommodation sleeps 6, including space for one cot. The spacious master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and balcony with views onto open fields. The bed can be made up as a king size, or 2 twin beds. There is one double bedroom, a family bathroom and a twin bedded room. This room can either be king sized, or 2 twin beds. All 3 of the bedrooms have a sizeable wardrobe, including plenty of clothes hangers, chest of drawers and bedside cabinets.

Bathrooms:
En-suite electric shower in the master bedroom with bathroom cabinet, and heated towel radiator.
Family bathroom with bath, powerful shower over the bath, bathroom cabinet and heated towel radiator.
Outside:
To the front of the property is a private decking area with table and chairs. The decking is accessed via either of the two sets of patio doors. To the rear of the property is an enclosed patio area with a picnic bench and chairs. This can be accessed via the back door, or via the side return of the house.
There is also a large outdoor cupboard with beach bits and bobs to borrow, plus a fire pit which can also be used as a BBQ. The cupboard can also store surf boards if necessary.
Children:
There is a high chair and cot (please bring your own bed linen) available at the property. There is also plenty of child friendly crockery, cups, games, DVDs and books. There is a great playground in the village and the rock pools on the beach will keep little ones amused for hours!
Dogs:
We accept well behaved dogs, we just ask you keep them off the sofas, clear up after them and ensure they do not freely roam around the complex.
There is a seasonal dog ban on Porthtowan beach from Easter through to the end of September. There are plenty of beaches locally which accept dogs all year round. The coast path is a minutes’ walk from the house where there are miles of open fields and paths to walk. Furthermore in the village itself, there is a grassy/sandy area before hitting the beach proper which is fab for dogs.
The back patio is enclosed, however the height of the wall is not overly tall. If you look at the photo on the gallery section you can get a feel of the height.
Local Area
There is so much to discover in the local area which includes Truro, St. Agnes, St. Ives, Newquay and Penzance. The delights of Falmouth on the south coast area easily accessible. Further afield, St Michaels Mount, the cliff-edge Minnack theatre, or the Eden project are all easily visited within a day.
Mining is very much part of the Cornish heritage and there are lots of places to visit to learn more about the tin mines, which includes the opportunity to go down an old working tin mine!
Porthtowan beach is perfect for surfing and body boarding. There is a surf school in the village if you wanted to perfect your technique. Further afield you can do lots of water based activities including sea kayaking, coasteering and stand up paddle boarding.
There are a number of amazing beaches within a short drive, plenty of national trust houses and gardens to explore.
We never tire of discovering the local area, there is just so much to see and do. In the house, you will find a folder with lots of information on things to do and places to visit.
