Lovely house, super location to the beach and the Coastal Path for walking and all that North Cornwall has to offer. The owner was very helpful and thoughtful. Nothing was too much trouble.
A truly beautiful house in a perfect location. The house is a perfect blend of old and new, with plenty of period features sensitively preserved alongside all the modern creature comforts. Very well equipped kitchen with a huge Aga at its heart, opening into the great family dining room, which then opens into the pretty well maintained walled garden. You hardly need the other three beautifully furnished reception rooms! We all enjoyed our stay immensely and the owner was very responsive and super helpful at all times. Thank you - we’ll be back next year!
Just a spent a week with 6 adults and 5 kids at Porthcothan House over New Year. It''s an impressive, beautifully restored 6 bedroom house set back from the road behind private gates and only a short walk down to a stunning beach at Porthcothan. The beach comes into its own at low tide when a myriad of caves and coves become accessible and you get the sense of the scale and rugged beauty of the Cornish coastline. Owner Tim met us on arrival (those who had made it through snow!) to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. The house has a spacious open kitchen, dining room, and conservatory area with an Aga oven, though we ended up mostly using the Aga hobs. The two lounge areas gave us a space to break out into a multimedia room - essential PlayStations for the teenagers plugged into the TV, and a drawing room, for piece, quiet and a little guitar strumming. The bedrooms each had amazing bespoke beds as designed for the Savoy which gave us a long peaceful nights sleep, perhaps aided a little by the New Year food and drink. All in all an amazing place that exceeded everyone''s expectations and somewhere definitely to come back to.
