Moonseeker is a traditional stone and cob shippon, spacious and full of character, recently converted with great care & attention to detail.
The cottage sleeps up to 4 people in 2 ensuite bedrooms (one can be a twin) and is just 5 minutes drive from Dartmoor National Park & the market town of Okehampton. It is set in a secluded location, away from main roads, down an unmade farm track.

The front of Moonseeker looks over the colourful farmhouse garden and pond, which used to be the farmyard.
You will enjoy a high degree of privacy here as the cottage is not overlooked, nobody goes past it, and has its own fully enclosed and well screened back garden with table and chairs, decking and lawned area and a BBQ to take advantage of the sunny evenings. The garden backs onto a field where sheep and lambs may be grazing, and enjoys views to Dartmoor and some spectacular sunsets as it is South West facing.
This is a wonderful, central base for exploring Devon and Cornwall, with the coast under an hour away. The market town of Okehampton, with its spectacular castle ruins, is under 2 miles, and has all the facilities you need including a cinema, some independent shops, restaurants, pubs, vegan café and 3 supermarkets - Waitrose, Co-op and Lidl.

Very well behaved dogs are welcome at £25 each, but please read the terms on our website before booking to make sure this property is suitable for your pet.

Children 8 years and over and babes in arms welcome.

The usual changeover day is Friday. Out-of-season short breaks are available and changeover can usually be any day of the week.

KITCHEN: Plenty of room for 4 people to sit around the farmhouse table, a range-style gas cooker with 2 ovens and 8 burners - no need to fight over who does the cooking as you can all join in! There is a dishwasher, fridge, separate freezer and washing machine, espresso coffee maker, microwave, toaster, stove top kettle and plenty of glasses, crockery & cutlery. The kitchen is handmade from brick and oak, with granite worksurfaces.

LOUNGE: In the lounge is a woodburner (first basket of logs supplied free) and leather armchairs and sofa. The large TV has a DVD player and if you want to play your favourite music there is a Pure Contour D1 digital radio with Apple dock - you can connect non-Apple devices via the auxilary port.

Just inside the main entrance is a small downstairs cloakroom - in a slightly medieval style!

BEDROOMS: The cottage has 2 ensuite bedrooms upstairs, one with a 5ft king size bed, the other with a 6 ft SuperKing zip and link with topper to ensure you won't feel the zip down the middle, as this bed can be made into twin beds on request. Both ensuites have power showers and we supply hand towels and bath towels (1 each per person). The beds are good quality Hypnos and have underbed storage for luggage. Pillows are hollowfibre. Hairdryers are provided in both bedrooms - along with a torch in each dressing table. The bedrooms are separated from each other by a 'bridge'.

As well as a woodburner Moonseeker has underfloor heating throughout. WiFi, suitable for catching up with emails and browsing the internet, is also available throughout the cottage.

OUTSIDE: The garden is enclosed on all sides by fencing and a wall. This is a lovely place to sit under the sun umbrella at the table watching the wildlife and birds go by, or just sunset watch while someone takes charge of the BBQ. As there is often livestock in the field beyond the garden we ask guests who bring pets to be particularly vigilant in keeping their pets under control. To the front of the property is a small fenced area.

PARKING: There is under cover parking for 2 vehicles a short walk away from the cottage (you can park nearer for loading/unloading purposes). Particularly useful for keeping the car cool in hot weather and no need to de-ice it in the winter!

Whilst you are enjoying your holiday, you may wish to complete your rest and relaxation with a massage from our visiting therapist. These are very reasonably priced for an hours treatment and include Indian Head Massage, deep tissue massage, aromatherapy massage and facials. Enquire when booking.

Should you have to cancel your stay with us due to government imposed travel restrictions, we will offer a full refund. You will also have the option to re-book or choose a credit voucher.

Kind and thoughtful hosts

By Sightseer48650125876 on 29-Mar-2023

The kind and thoughtful hosts had thought of everything one could need to make a break at Moonseeker just perfect. Very dog friendly, with a pretty garden and patio area to relax in. Lots to do in this beautiful area, with something to please everyone, The standard of furnishings is very high and every need is catered for. Very relaxing. There are plenty of shops and eating places in nearby Okehampton and some good take-aways. Some good walks from the cottages and surrounding area.

The Best Christmas Yet!

By The Till Family on 30-Dec-2022

Moonseeker is a beautifully presented cottage on the edge of Dartmoor. Finished to a high quality, the cottage is fitted with every amenity you could possibly need. We stayed as a family of four for Christmas, the hosts couldn’t do enough to make our stay magical. My eldest daughter said “it was the best Christmas yet”. So many small touches which made our stay extra special. Faultless, highly recommend the cottage and our wonderful hosts.

The Inside has to be Seen to be Believed! (in a good way!)

By JennieP on 16-Jun-2022

The entrance and garden of Moonseeker are just so welcoming, but the inside has to be seen to be believed! Everything is there for comfort and every inch finished to the highest standard. You will want for nothing! Nicola even puts top of the range coffee and tea bags for her guests. The secluded garden is totally private and the table and chairs perfect for meals, reading a book or just watching the bats in the evening. Situated near Belstone Tor, so just right for the western edge of Dartmoor and the wonderful Inns. The White Hart at Bridestowe and the Tor Inn at Belstone are friendly pubs with great food. Okehampton is a lovely town with a Living Museum of Dartmoor, Okehampton Castle, great little shops, tea rooms, especially Love Brownies and not to be missed .. the beautiful Simmons Park.
