Activities and Sightseeing
There is plenty to see and do in the area and Treverien is conveniently located 5 minutes drive from the main N137 which links St Malo on the coast with the city of Rennes to the south.
The Ille-et-Rance canal runs through the village, offering walks and cycling along the tow paths. (mountain bikes are provided)
The canal is a 52 mile (84km)-long stretch of water that links Rennes with St Malo. The area offers some wonderful opportunities for cycling and walking and below the hilltop village of Hédé you'll see there are 11 locks, each of which are only about 200m apart; this ‘staircase’ of water takes boats through an 88 feet (27m)-change in level.
Within a 30 minute drive are Dinan, Combourg, Dol de Bretagne, Mont St Michael and Cancale is 60 minutes away.
The small town of Evran is 4 kilometres away and has restaurants, bars and shops. It is also situated on the canal and there is a port with picnic area next to the lock. Adjoining the town is a lake and leisure area with bathing beach, sailing, canoeing and walks.
Every day is market day !!
On Thursdays, it’s in the Place Du Guesclin in Dinan, on Saturdays, it's in the Place des Lices in Rennes... every town has its own unmissable weekly market. It's a place to meet up and discover regional specialties. You’ll rub shoulders with producers and craftsmen who will happily let you sample their famous galette-saucisse,
organic fruit and vegetables, and help you to discover local crafts.
However a car or a bike will allow you to travel further inland and follow the Circuit Tinténiac-Montmuran. This historical trail takes in Les Iffs with the château de Montmuran castle and Gothic church known for its magnificent stained glass windows, as well as the 16th-century Domaine de la Bourbansais stately home and zoo in Pleugueneuc.
We welcome guests with pets, we have a cat and dogs they are friendly, well behaved and social. We work our dogs in obedience, agility and assistance training for the disabled.
