I believe we were one of the first people to stay in the house after work had been done and Patsy made sure we were aware of a small snag list of things yet to be finished. Having not seen proper photos of the house either we were a little apprehensive but the views looked stunning and we loved the area. As soon as we arrived we knew we'd made the best decision ever. The house was perfect for our group of 9 adults. There were plenty of bathrooms and showers for everyone although, be warned, the upstairs shower isn't suitable for tall people! The Lounge was by far the favourite room. Beautifully decorated with a view that will take your breath away. Sat in the big armchair with a fresh coffee looking out to sea in the mornings was one of my favourite bits. The only thing to note was that the top double bedroom on the right of the stairs didn't have a curtain on the Velux window. Unfortunately, this was the side the sun came up into, so the couple in that room were woken up around 5.30am each morning. I'm sure this was one of those things on the snagging list but something to check! When we arrived, the outside table and chairs were in the tiny courtyard at the back of the house. As lovely as this was, we eventually moved them onto the front lawn to make the most of the spectacular views. There was no BBQ so we bought our own to cook outside and when the evening got too cold we lit a fire, in the fire pit area at the back of the house. There was loads of wood available to use and it was a lovely touch to be able to do. We were very lucky with the weather so in the days we visited the beaches and went on walks. Hove cove has several sheltered little bays (great for kids) which we explored and then the other day we walked over the cliffs to the much bigger South Milton Sands. The sea was still very cold otherwise we would have hired out some paddle boards but a very quick dip was all we managed! All in all, the perfect weekend escape and we're eager to book again for next year.
I was fortunate enough to visit this breathtaking house back in August and, to be honest, I’ve spent all my time since wondering why I ever left!! It is one of the most idyllic places I have ever had the fortune of visiting. (I actually feel like I should leave a bad review, just so that not everyone finds out about this place!). To start off with, the house is just a stones throw from all the necessities you could ask for - a pub, an award winning bar, café, local shop and, most importantly, the beach!! Several beaches actually! As well as country-side walks, an award winning restaurant and hot, fresh pastries available in the mornings! (seriously, what more could you want!?). Though providing residents with all the required amenities, Hope Cove has not lost its ‘little fishing village’ charm; the locals are wonderful and always willing to help visitors with directions, boat advice, a proper weather report and, if you ask very nicely, some freshly caught fish and lobster at the end of the day! Most notably though, Hope Cove just feels so welcoming and safe, with young families always looking for another team to play at beach cricket, parents looking out for everyones children - not just their own, life guards and the harbour master on hand to help out and a buzzing little hive of chatting and laughter in the main square, Hope Cove itself is the dream location, whether you want a quiet family holiday or to socialise and sample all the local beers!! As for the house itself? Well, if the village is the icing on the cake, the house is most definitely the cake itself! Just a 2 minute stroll from the square, the house is nestled on the hill overlooking the bay - set back from the road by its lawned garden, Knot In provides everything you could want or need. With gloriously comfy, roomy beds and fresh, soft linen, waking up in one of these fabulously decorated rooms is only improved by what awaits you when you enter the living area. Set across 3 floors, the living room, dining area and kitchen are semi open-plan, creating a hive of activity when guests want to enjoy a meal or drink together but, if you would rather curl up in a chair with a good book, there’s ample space for that too! What really makes this house however, is that special something that the living area has which you cannot get anywhere else….. the giant bay window, overlooking the cove, framing the most magical, beautiful, breathtaking sunsets I have ever seen (And I have watched the sun set over Machu Picchu!). Whether stormy and cold, gloriously burning red or misty and mysterious, the ever changing view is spell binding. Even those in the kitchen have a large window from which to watch mother nature at her very finest! It really is a view to behold. Two of the larger bedrooms also benefit from generous views of the cove! The rooms on the upper floor don’t have quite the same opulent view, but this is made up for with the ocean themed art works, the fabulous vintage mirror wall and pirate themed ‘dormitory room’. Providing enough bathrooms, showers, loos and sinks to cover everyones needs, this house is the cozy home away from home that is decadent enough to feel like a treat but welcoming and homely enough that you can settle in and relax as soon as you set foot through the door. And for those rainy days or nights in with a glass of wine and competitive streak? There is a games room on the lower floor - with awesome decoration, table football, sofas, board games and more, this room occupies little ones and brings out the kid in everyone! Again, its a room where you can just dive right in and have fun. Generally, my family, friends and I had the time of our lives. I cannot recommend this house enough and will be back again next year, definitely for a longer stay!! But once you have been, don’t tell too many people because then everyone will want to come.
Couldn't recommend this rental enough! My husband and I stayed here on holiday in August and had the best time. The house is lovely - massive living room with a view of the Cove and spectacular sunset, large kitchen and dining area, and our bedroom was not only incredibly comfortable (king-size bed, windows that open for a nice breeze) but had a view of the Cove and surrounding hills. The house is also only a five minute walk from the beach. The beach and Cove itself are beautiful! We swam, kayaked, and standup paddle-boarded. It was very family- and dog-friendly, as well! The town is adorable. There is an ice cream shop, a place to get fresh pastries every morning, a coffee bar, and, my favorite, The Cove, where you can get great pizzas (including a gf and / or vegan option!) and a host of local beers and ciders. All in all, a great holiday home!
