Description

Koru is a stunning, two-bedroom cottage in Glororum, Northumberland, one mile from the picturesque village of Bamburgh and beautiful local beaches. Relax and unwind in the upstairs living area enjoying spectacular views of Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands or dine outside on the glazed balcony at the back, watching the sun set over the rolling countryside and the Cheviot Hills.

Koru sleeps up to four people with two good sized bedrooms downstairs, one with twin beds or a super-king and the other with a kingsize bed - perfect for one or two couples, or a family. Sorry, but pets are not allowed. Koru is available for short and longer escapes with changeover days to suit your preferred stay (although we have a six night minimum stay in summer). If you are keen to stay at Koru, please use the secure online booking service on our website or through Simply Owners, or email us with any questions.

The upstairs open plan living area has a kitchen, breakfast bar, dining area for up to ten people, lounge area and 'coffee zone'. The lounge has comfy sofas and foot rests, a log-effect gas fire, wall-mounted television, blu-ray player, bluetooth stereo, heaps of books and board games. All the seating is positioned to make the most of the views on each side of the cottage. For eating-in and rainy-day baking, the kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, toaster, gas hob, an electric fan oven and cake-making equipment.

Opening from the living area at the back of the cottage is a spacious, west-facing, glazed balcony equipped with a four-seater rattan set, table and sun umbrella. Sit back and enjoy a glass of something while watching migrating birds, beautiful sunsets and starry skies.

Downstairs are two bedrooms - the front one looks towards the castle and comes with a king-size, sleigh-style bed and the rear bedroom can be made up with either a super-king bed or twin beds. We also have a travel cot and stair gates available for little ones upon request.

The separate bathroom, just across the hall from the front bedroom, comes with a large bath, shower (over the bath), heated towel rail, cozy underfloor heating and solar-generated hot water (with an electrical boost in winter months). There is also a well-equipped utility room with washer dryer, drying rack, iron, ironing board and large sink.

Downstairs at the back is a sunny, enclosed garden and patio. There is patio furniture for four and the lockable garden cupboard has some games, barbeque, sand/snow sledges, beach wind breaks, picnic blankets and a sun umbrella - perfect for a lazy afternoon. The cupboard can also fit two or more bikes and other equipment.

At the front of the cottage there is a gated, private parking area for two cars (and a visitor's space just nearby) and two chairs for watching the sun rise over the castle with a morning cup of coffee.

Bamburgh village, beaches and the historic Bamburgh castle are a two minute drive or 20 minute walk from the small hamlet of Glororum where the cottage lies. There are plenty of wonderful walks nearby and numerous historic castles, gardens and country-side to explore.

Glororum hamlet itself comprises respectfully renovated farm buildings, a bed and breakfast and a set of four new cottages near an old Granary site built in traditional stone, of which Koru is one.

Relaxing Cottage Picturesque Northumberland Coast

By Judith P on 10-Oct-2015

Highly recommend this beautifully furnished cottage! Very relaxing and so comfortable in a perfect location for the gorgeous Northumberland coast! The cottage was really well equipped, very clean and we had everything we needed and more! Complimentary welcome pack was provided, which was very good including an excellent red wine! There are lots of books, games, DVDs etc. Living area is on the first floor giving wonderful views both back and front and towards Bamburgh Castle! Very good restaurants nearby and fantastic walking! We would certainly return to one of the best cottages we have stayed in!

The perfect place for the Northumberland Coast

By Mike C on 25-Oct-2015

We spent a week at Koru and it was one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. A mile out of Bamburgh, the cottage is fitted to a very high specification - everything from the comfortable furniture, smart TVs, and the well equipped kitchen to the underfloor heating in the bathroom. Caroline, the owner, has thought of lots of small things that others don't provide to make the stay five stars. In Bamburgh itself, there are a number of very good places to eat, from restaurants to tea rooms and the sandy beaches are expansive and plentiful. Within easy reach of Holy Island, Anwick Castle and lots of other places to explore.

Absolutely stunning

By Andrew L on 17-May-2017

A beautiful property in a fantastic location, only a 20 minute walk into Bamburgh (no footpaths most of the way though so care needed). The "upside down" layout works perfectly and takes full advantage of the amazing views to Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands. The property is extremely well equipped, probably the best that we have ever stayed in and the Cottage was cosy and warm, with underfloor heating in the bathroom a special treat! We have no hesitation in recommending this Cottage and I wouldn't be surprised if we made a return visit. My Response Thank you so much for your kind comments, I'm glad you had a good time and enjoyed the views. We aim to ensure the cottage has everything guests need to make their stay relaxing and fun. I'm also glad you liked the underfloor heating in the bathroom - somehow it does make a such a difference! Please do visit again
