Description

Just a seagull’s hop from the sea Seashell Cottage is a charming and peaceful home .

Deal is the perfect holiday or weekend destination and its award-winning High Street lined with quirky independent shops, markets and cafés is just a short walk away along the unspoilt promenade. Closer still is the Strand, where you’ll find the green and bandstand, a family run bakery, pubs, convenience stores and a café serving brilliant breakfasts complete with sea view. You can even buy freshly caught fish direct from the boatmen on the beach.

Deal itself is a picturesque Georgian seaside town with two Tudor castles, local museums and a striking modernist pier all worth a visit. Within a thirty minute drive are Dover Castle, the cathedral city of Canterbury and the major shopping outlet at Ashford. If you prefer two legs or two wheels, there are plenty of country and coastal paths and trails just waiting to be explored.

For golfers, the area boasts no less than three superb British Open courses – Royal St. Georges, Royal Cinque Ports and Princes.
Also within reach are the Turner Contemporary, Dreamland and the extraordinary shell grotto in Margate, Dickensian Broadstairs, Ramsgate’s Royal Harbour, Whitstable and the picturesque Medieval streets of Sandwich.
Head out into the countryside and you’ll find Wingham Wildlife Park, Howletts and Wildwood all fantastic places to see animals up close and personal.

France is a mere 20 miles away if you fancy stocking up the cellar.

Wherever your day takes you, Seashell Cottage is the perfect place to return to. It has been tastefully renovated to a very high standard, with a light and airy lounge, dining room and galley kitchen downstairs, and two spacious double bedrooms and toilet upstairs. Outside, the garden is the ideal spot to enjoy an al fresco aperitif. Sky TV (including Sky Sports) and Wi-fi ensure that indoor entertainment is also taken care of on those few and far between rainy days.

Dogs are very welcome at Seashell Cottage (as you’ll find they are in many pubs and cafés in Deal) but no smoking, please, for the comfort and enjoyment of our non-smoking guests.

Seashell CottageA very clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated cottage 5 out of 5

By Mark D on 20-Oct-2016

Seashell cottage is a great place to stay - really comfy beds, great décor and everything you need. It is very well positioned for the town and near to the beach. The owners, Mark and Sarah are very friendly and helpful. Deal is positioned in a lovely part of Kent with plenty of places to visit on your holiday. We will be returning soon.

A charming and quiet cottage, tastefully decorated, very comfortable and scrupulously clean. The beach is just five minutes away for long walks with the dog and lots of pub lunches! Deal itself is peasant and everyone very friendly - highly recommended

This cottage has become one of our favourite holiday destinations,it is like a home from home. We find there is always plenty to do. Walmer, Deal , Dover and Canterbury are full of historical places to visit. There is also a market in Canterbury on Wednesday and Friday. Canterbury has a very good park and ride service with buses running every 8 mins. Sunday we sit on the green and listen to the visiting brass band. Fishing is very good off the beach, not so good on Deal pier.Bait can be purchased from the tackle shop by the pier. We can recommend The New Inn in Deal they do a good Sunday roast, but you will need to book. Plenty of places to eat if you do not want to cook . The cottage has everything you need if you decide to have a restful day in. The kitchen is well equipped and the cooker easy to use. A lay in is essential as the beds are so comfortable. We hope to return at least twice a year.
