Castallack is a very small hamlet between Mousehole & Lamorna. & Trevean Cottage is a lovely, comfortable, dog friendly self-catering cottage ideally suited to a family of four or a couple who like a bit of extra space.
The cottage is granite built, comfortably furnished & benefits from a large private secluded country garden with brick built BBQ, wildlife pond & picnic table.
It is is on a 35 acre smallholding with sheep, pigs, chickens, geese, two rescue ponies, Connie & Budgie & a newly rehomed cat Frankie. It's a very special place.
Just four miles West from the local market town of Penzance, Castallack appears to be completely away from it all but is in fact secluded, not isolated. Within easy walking distance of both Mousehole & Lamorna it is only a short drive away from Newlyn & Penzance the latter having good bus & rail connections.
Walking & cycling are firm favourites for guests staying in the cottages. With National Cycle route 3 literally outside the front gate & with the South West Coast Path & it's amazing views a 20 minute walk away, there are plenty of options for getting out & about to see the local countryside. The bridleway that runs through the farm connects Castallack to the main road at the head of the Lamorna valley where buses go to Lands End, St Ives & Porthcurno. A walk to Mousehole for lunch, a 30 minute stroll with terrific views of the bay, is an excellent option, there are several eateries from seriously good fish cooking to eating a pint & a pasty at the local pub The Ship Inn on the harbour.
In the other direction The Lamorna Wink pub , a 15 minute walk away does a renowned Sunday lunch & a few minutes further on, towards the sea, the cafe perched on the waterfront at Lamorna Cove offers sandwiches, cakes & light meals.. Mix up your lunch with a walk on the South West Coast path & that's a good days work.
Venture further away to Penzance where there are boat trips to watch dolphins & possibly whales in Mounts Bay or walk across the causeway to St Michaels Mount & visit the Castle & the lovely gardens. Time your visit right & you can walk across & catch the ferry back to Marazion with a drink or coffee or meal at the newly revamped Godolphin Arms.
There are stunning world class gardens to visit in Cornwall including Trengwainton, Trewidden & St Michaels Mount locally & a bit further afield Trebah, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden project, Glendurgan & Trelissic which are all within easy driving distance.
