Garden and outside
The cottage overlooks the River Blavet in a fairly secluded location. We have a very small private garden with barbecue and pergola. The grassy area in front of the cottage running down to the river is common land and accessible to all. It has become very popular in recent years, especially with fishermen, walkers and cyclists.
The cottage is set in a perfect location for bird-watching, wildlife watching - otters and kingfishers commonly seen. Plenty of scope for outdoor activities. The cottage is situated in a very beautiful part of rural France.

Amazing stay

By Edyta Patel on 22-Jul-2024

Thank you so much for an amazing and peaceful stay. The Chez Pecheur cottage was absolutely beautiful, comfortable, spacious and in perfect location . Well equipped kitchen and utility room made our stay more easier. Very good variety of sports equipment like kayaks, bikes and fishing rods were just perfect for my boys who loves all sort of sport activities. Staying next to the river made our stay so relaxing as my boys love fishing and therfore they enjoyed spending their time over there My younger son caught his first fish ever!!! What are the chances, first ever fish in France 😀 Overall very memorable family holiday

Very peaceful location

Stunning location, right beside the river. So peaceful. Great place to relax and unwind. We stayed as a family of 4 and had a wonderful holiday here. There are some great walks along the river and in the woods and of course opportunity to cycle, kayak and fish. There were also a whole range of lovely beaches about 40-50 minutes drive away, as well as lots of local market towns to explore. The green between the cottage and the river is public land, so each day there were a few people around, mainly leaving their cars while walking/running but sometimes stopping to fish, picnic, launch a boat or a few staying in their campervans over night. This was no problem, everyone was very friendly and the majority of the evenings we had the whole green to ourselves to use for games, picnics or just sitting watching the otters. The cottage itself is quite compact. There is a lovely, well equipped kitchen, and a comfortable lounge area. The bedrooms are in the roof area, so have steep stairs and limited head room, which adds to the charm but take care on the stairs. The bathroom and additional shower in the utility room are functional but again small as they need to fit within the limited space of the cottage. The garage was also well equipped with a barbeque which we enjoyed using, as well as kayaks and bikes. Just be aware that the kayaks and bikes might not be in the best condition, depending on who has used them previously and what state they have been left in. Overall we had a wonderful stay in this cottage and loved the beautiful and peaceful location.

Peace and tranquility

By Carole on 25-Aug-2023

The perfect location for a restful break. The accommodation is well equipped for a self catering stay, we enjoyed breakfast outside watching the river wildlife. Our 7 year old granddaughter cycled miles along the cycle path with her mum and granddad. The locals seemed friendly and were happy to have a chat and the river is well used by fishermen, paddle boards, swimmers and canoes but this didn’t detract from the peace and quiet.

A rural retreat right by the river

By James Lambert on 08-Aug-2023

This is a lovely rural retreat in Brittany that is right by the river and is equipped with everything you need for your stay. If you need a break from work or to get kids off devices then perfect as there is so much to do either at the house or a short drive away. To the west there are a number of beaches (we visited 3 different beaches) or North & South there are towns to explore. We had a fabulous time there for 6 days, the kids loved it (12 & 15) and managed to keep them off their phones, always a positive. The green in front is open to public but no loud noise or any disturbance just friendly people there for the day or stopping in a camper overnight. Follow the instructions provided carefully, as SatNav can't be reliable, but once you are there then you will automatically relax.

Excellent all round

My wife and I were more than happy with this house and all it offered. Every possible item of use was included and the hosts were more than generous in offering bikes, fishing tackle and kayaks for our use. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, the wildlife and nature in general.

Beautiful rural retreat

By Paul & Jill on 24-Jun-2023

Beautiful spot by the river which provides a rural peaceful area to relax in. We found that the river side is popular with the locals, including the primary school as one day they arrived to have their lunch there and it was very enjoyable watching their antics. The gite is a great base for exploring the surrounding area, so we reconoitered the Blavet valley and went as far as the coast. We did not see any otters but we did see beavers, although it took a couple of evenings before we got clear enough views to be sure. Great to see them enjoying the riverside . The gite has everything you require for a holiday. The only issue was the heat in the bedrooms as the exceptionally hot weather, which had been forecasted for our first week made them very warm, but we had brought small fans with us. All in all a very enjoyable stay.
